Softly rounded forms are characteristic of Kirchner’s style of drawing during those years. The nude in space theme returned to both his paintings and his prints. Ernst Ludwig Kirchner had finally detached himself completely from his role models, now seeking to realise his ideas in a style of drawing that gave top priority to spontaneity. Echoes of Kirchner’s academic training linger in the rather forced poses of the bodies even though the drawing is already very forward-looking. Shortly before the Berlin years that would be so important to Ernst Ludiwig Kirchner’s art the foundations of his later work are already very much in evidence. [KD].

In very good condition. With minimal crease marks in places of lower margin. Loosely mounted on verso of upper corners.
