Tom Wesselmann began using metal as a material in 1983 and entered into the most productive period of his creation. These works on metal are based on seemingly swift sketches of landscapes, still lives or nudes. They are conveyed onto a metal plate either by hand or by electronic means and precisely cut out by a laser. As far as motif and technique are concerned, the metal works combine traditional and modern elements. This also applies to our work in which the classic combination of four roses and a yellow pear gets a modern Pop Art notion through the star and the composition's gaudy colors. The contrast between a soft line, the hard metal and a luminous coloring structured by black lines leads to an interesting version of medieval church windows that call reminiscence of Comic Art.
