PROVENANCE: Private collection Southern Germany (obtained directly from the artist).

The great gestural swing of Hartung's later works is an expression of a cumulative energy that enables him to handle his process of creation in a very focussed manner. It was the acrylic paint that allowed the painter to render color structures in a spontaneous manner. All of his compositions are borne by an own rhythm and sound that the observer immediatley grasps. The clear meaning and direct access to Hartung's works allowed a broad audience to participate in an optical experience that is inevitably linked with the artist.
