Acrylic and metallic paint.
Verso with the artist's stamped signature and a typographic inscription. Additionally with the artist's studio blindstamp. On structured wove paper. Diameter ca. 52 cm (20.4 in), the full sheet.
Made in context of a Damien Hirst Spin-Workshop on occasion of the opening of the exhibition "Requiem", 2009, at the Pinchuk Art Center in Kiev, Ukraine. [CE].

PROVENANCE: Private collection Southern Germany.

This work offered here is part of the series of "Spin Paintings" which are characterized by a bright and gaudy coloring. What makes this technique so special is that the colors are applied on a rotating image carrier so that centrifugal forces become effective and lead to opulent color structures. The process of creation of these works is primarily informed by spontaneity and coincidence, as the artist can only exert influence through his choice of colors and the rotation movement. This approach stands in stark contrast to that of Hirst's far more formal "Spot-Series". However, what both work groups have in common is the artist's exploration of the creative process and the idea of an imaginary 'machine painter'; the concept of an artistic signature gains an entirely new meaning in Hirst's art.
