• Wonderful tender composition in the combination of Renoir's preferred colors rosé, light yellow and light blue.
• Characteristic motif in the series of the rose still lifes from Renoir's late period fo creation.
• Roses stand emblematic for Auguste Renoir, comparable with Monet's water lillies and Vincent van Gogh's sunflowers.

"Painting flowers eases my mind. It is far less strenuous than being confronted with a model. When I paint flowers I use different hues and values, feeling liberated, I am not worried about loosing the canvas. I would never dare doing this with a human face, simply for the fear of spoiling everything. The experience I gain this way finds use in my other paintings, too.“
