• The (anonymous) human being—often depicted in portraits—is an important and recurring motif in Schreiber's work.
• Increased color volumes, complementary contrasts, and an open composition that dispenses with perspective are characteristic features.
• Hugo Schreiber's works were regularly published in Herwarth Walden's magazine “Der Sturm” and presented in the gallery of the same name.
• In 1926, he exhibited at the “International Exhibition of Modern Art” at the Brooklyn Museum, New York, alongside Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, Pablo Picasso, and Marcel Duchamp.
