Signed lower left. 59,5 : 42,3 cm (23,4 : 16,6 in). Elliger is a student of Daniel Seghers in Antwerp, and later on settles in Amsterdam, he lives in Hamburg as of 1666 and is finally called to the court of the elector of Berlin in 1670. He concentrates on flowers and still lifes at an early point, which contributes to his great success in Hamburg. Our "hanging fruits with numerous insects" is part of an extensive Œuvre, which is characterised by a clear stroke of brush with a love of the detail. Elliger's works are in possession of numerous large museums, such as the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin and the Hamburger Kunsthalle. [AS]

Very nice overall impression. Somewhat rubbed in places of margins, due to framing, there with isolated superficial pigment losses.
