• Notable provenance: From the collection of the art historian Ludwig Heinrich Heydenreich (1903-1978), a friend of Bargheer, in 1943 director of the Arthistorical Institute in Florence and, in 1946, founding director of the Central Institute for Art History, Munich
• In 1944, both Bargheer and Heydenreich were in Florence and experienced the beauty of the city as well as its damage caused by the war
• The exciting time was impressively reflected in the watercolor painted on both sides: sunny beauty of the Renaissance architecture as well as darker colors on the other side
• Especially in watercolor, Bargheer achieved a wonderful free style of painting with floating colors.

PROVENANCE: Collection of Ludwig Heinrich Heydenreich (1903-1978), Munich (ever since family-owned).

Landscapein fine colors anbd in good condition. Upper right and left margin and lower left margin with faint creasemarks, edges unobtrusively wavy.
