Our untitled acrylic painting from 2003 once more demonstrates the ease and naturalness with which Günther Förg brings the sensual power of color to full bloom: Inevitably, the abstraction, usually brought onto the picture in one go, becomes a backdrop for free associations. In a way that is rather unique in his oeuvre, Förg's mastery of touching the viewer with painterly means reduced to the maximum becomes evident once again.
Förg's complex oeuvre reveals a variety of influences. While he was initially influenced by abstract pre-war modernism, the art of Blinky Palermo or Cy Twombly was formative in the 1970s, while later influence came from, among others, American Action and Color Field Painting. "Untitled" also inevitably draws links to Nicolas de Staël (1914-1955), one of the most important French painters of post-war modernism. In the early 1950s, de Staël's painting gradually moved towards a synthesis of figuration and abstraction; the colors also became more fluid and were set in strong contrasts.
In the present work, Förg brings the canvas to life through the visible traces of the brush, but also through different incidences of light. Streaks, layers and transparent openings let the black vibrate. Yellow and orange act as wonderfully balanced counterparts. Förg embeds abstract forms in the foreground in a diffuse background, thus allowing for the most diverse and at the same time thoroughly mysterious associations. The artist draws from a rich source of inspiration, adapting and transforming what he sees, thus constantly creating new impulses in terms of material, color and space. He looks for artistic starting points and creates a new, completely independent concept of painting. Our acrylic work from 2003 is therefore a wonderful example of Förg's complex and well thought-out approach. [AW]

Per le opere originali di arti figurative e fotografie di artisti viventi o deceduti da meno di 70 anni soggette al diritto di seguito, in tutti i casi suddetti viene riscossa in aggiunta, a liquidazione della compensazione del diritto di seguito dovuto dalla casa d'aste ai sensi del § 26 della legge tedesca sul diritto d'autore (Urheberrechtsgesetz, UrhG), una compensazione del diritto di seguito con le percentuali indicate nel § 26 2° comma UrhG, che attualmente sono le seguenti:
