Zweite lateinische Ausgabe, einer von zwei Drucken, hrsg. von Matthias Ringmann. Die Passionsfolge mit den Holzschnitten von Urs Graf (seine erste signierte Buchillustration) erschien erstmals 1506. In der vorliegenden Ausgabe der sog. Ringmann-Passion wurde der letzte Holzschnitt der Graf-Folge (Schmerzensmann ), durch einen Holzschnitt von Hans Wechtlin (Auferstehung ) ersetzt (vgl. hierzu Hollstein und Schmidt). Die durch Ringmann stark verkürzte Passionsgeschichte läßt die Einzelabschnitte als erweitere Bildunterschriften erscheinen. Der Eindruck der Bilddominanz wird durch die blattfüllende Größe der Holzschnitte unterstrichen.
EINBAND: Pergamentband unter Verwendung einer lombardischen Notenhandschrift des 15. Jhs. mit schöner farbiger Initiale mit Ausläufer. Folio. 29 : 20 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit 25 blattgroßen Holzschnitten von Urs Graf (24) und Hans Wechtlin (1). - KOLLATION: 30 nn. Bll. - ZUSTAND: Etw. fleckig und angeschmutzt, unt. Bundsteg mit Braunfleck, Titel und letzte Bll. im Bund mit restaur. Randläsuren, 3 Bll. im Unterrand mit alter Federzeichnung. - PROVENIENZ: Letztes Bl. verso im Fußsteg mit Besitzeintrag "P. V. Hasak" (um 1850 Kaplan in Arnsdorf bei Tetschen an der Elbe).

Mod. vellum using a 15th cent. antiphonary manuscript (Lombardy) with fine color initial. 30 nn. leaves. - Some staining and soiling, lower gutter with brownstain, title and last leaves with restored defects in the gutter, title further with restored tear, 3 leaves at bottom with early ink drawing.
