Sehr seltene erste Ausgabe der berühmten astronomischen Abhandlung von Abraham bar Hiyya (ca. 1065 -1136), einem Mathematiker, Astronomen und Philosophen, Mitglied einer jüdischen Gemeinde in Spanien.
Mit Kommentaren und Erläuterungen von Sebastian Münster. Enthält auch ein Compendium arithmetices von Rabbi Elija Orientali, ebenfalls in Hebräisch und Latein, sowie Schriften von Erasmus Oswald Schreckenfuchs, illustriert mit zahlreichen Holzschnittfiguren und Diagrammen.
EINBAND: Zeitgenössischer Schweinslederband mit reicher Blind- und Rollenprägung. 4to. 20 : 15 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit Holzschnitt-Titelvignette, 1 blattgroßem Textholzschnitt (Armillarsphäre), zahlreichen Textholzschnitten und 2 Holzschnitt-Druckermarken (wdh.). - KOLLATION: 351 S.; 4 (st. 5) Bll., 207 S. - ZUSTAND: Fehlen Titel und Vorrede zum ersten Teil (3 Bll.) sowie das letzte Bl. der Vorrede zum zweiten Teil (a5). - Zu Beginn und am Ende wenige Bll. wasserrandig, sonst kaum fleckiges und breitrandiges Exemplar. With comments and explanation by Sebastian Münster. Printed in Hebrew and Latin. With woodcut title-vignette, 1 fulllpage woodcut, numerous woodcuts in text and 2 woodcut printer's devices (rep.). Contemp. blindtooled pigskin. - Lacking title and preface to the first part (3 leaves) and the last leaf of the preface to the second part (a5). - A few leaves waterstained at the beginning and end, otherwise nearly stainless and wide-margined copy. Endpapers and spine renewed, the latter using the old material.
