Eine der wichtigen Monographien zur französischen Plakatkunst kurz vor der Jahrhundertwende.
Erste Ausgaben der ersten beiden Bände in Maindrons Serie zur Plakatkunst. - 1 von 500 (Bd. I) und 1 von 1000 (Bd. II) numerierten Exemplaren auf Vélin Papier. - Ernest Maindron war nicht nur einer der ersten ernsthaften Plakatsammler, sondern auch der Erste, der Plakatausstellungen veranstaltete. Er veröffentlichte 1886 die erste und 1896-97 eine weitere Monographie über die französischen Plakate. "Beaux et importants ouvrages abondamment illustrés" (Carteret). Der zweite Band enthält neben den prachtvollen und äußerst dekorativen Lithographien einen umfassenden Text sowie am Ende ein nahezu 900 Nummern umfassendes Gesamtverzeichnis von Jules Cheret (L'oeuvre murale de Jules Cheret) .
EINBAND: Zeitgenössische Halblederbände mit goldgeprägtem Rückentitel (illustrierte Orig.-Umschläge eingebunden; Einbde. abweichend). 32 : 23,5 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit 90 Chromolithographien und zahlr.
