In a letter from 1964 Schmidt-Rottluff wrote to the publisher of the catalog raisonné Ernest Rathenau, that he had already created the woodcut in 1919, however, he never printed it. He rediscovered the printing block in 1964 and had it printed by HAP in 1974 for the first time.
