Made by the 'Staatliche Porzellanmanufaktur' Berlin. Otto Pauly (1837-1943), a Hamburg merchant, had a family tomb put up in Aumühle in 1933 , for which Barlach made the bronze relief. Our terracotta work is a model for this relief. The bronze relief was apparently removed in 1946 and has been lost ever since. [SM].
