With inscription "Rosalba Carriera 1670-1757" on verso as well as typographed inscription "No. 88 / der Königl: Gemälde Galerie zu Dresden".

(Old Masters Picture Gallery) in Dresden up until 1924, it carried the gallery number P 88. Back then the director of the gallery Hans Posse traded it with the art dealer Jacob Heimann for a female nude by Wilhelm Trübner. In 1948 he sold the pastel to the San Diego Museum of Art in the USA, where it can be found up until today.
