Signed and inscribed "Handdruck". Monogrammed in the stone. Verso with the estate stamp of Kunstmuseum Basel (Lugt 1570 b) and the hand-written registration number "L 18 II". One of just five known copies. On wove paper. 40 x 33.5 cm (15.7 x 13.1 in). Sheet: 47 x 36,7 cm (18,5 x 14,4 in).

• Only one other copy of this rare lithograph has been offered on the international auction market in the past 30 years (source: artprice.com).
• Created during Kirchner's first stay on Fehmarn in the summer of 1908.
• Painterly hand-made print: Kirchner usually worked directly on the stone with pen, brush or chalk and, together with Erich Heckel, he developed a method of drawing right on the stone.

"Kirchner usually worked with pen, brush or [..] chalk directly on the stone. Only a few sheets were drawn on transfer paper. Together with Erich Heckel, Kirchner developed a method of printing the stone drawings by hand. The edition rarely exceeded five to seven prints."

In good condition. Sheet edges slightly browned all around as well as with isolated slight traces of compression, creasing and rubbing and a few minimal losses of material.
