Krüger L 103. Signed, dated, titled "Mann mit Brille" and numbered. According to Krüger, apart from this copy no. 3 only no. 9 is also known. In general, Krüger assumes that the early editions wwere made in print runs of a maximum of 10 prints. On brownish, slightly marbled paper. 44 x 32.7 cm (17.3 x 12.8 in). Sheet: 59,8 x 44,7 cm (23,5 x 17,6 in).
For the group show of the "Brücke" at Emil Richter, Pechstein made the poster showing the four members Schmidt-Rottluff, Heckel, Kirchner and Pechstein. The present lithograph may have also been made in this context. [JS].

• With a sure line, Pechstein drew the characteristic facial features of the fellow artist Karl Schmidt-Rottluff onto the stone.
• Kirchner too portrayed the young Schmidt-Rottluff with moustache, goatie and round glasses in the circle of his fellow "Brücke" artists in the famous painting "Eine Künstlergemeindschaft" (1926, Museum Ludwig, Cologne).
• Very rare. This is the first time that a copy of this work is offered on the international auction market (source: artprice.com).

Good overall impression. Top and bottom edge with mended blemishes, else harmoniously discolored, minimal isolated rubbings and minimally soiled spots in the edges.
