Bondy 16. - Hollstein XIX, 201, 32-294. - Le Blanc II, 478. - Nagler VIII, 113, 2 (mentions, just as Le Blanc, only incomplete works with100 coppers). - Rare edition of both series of the fine unusual pictorial bible in an unusual format. Engraved by the two sisters Christina and Magdalena Küsel who are from a famous Augsburg artist family. - "An enchanting pictorial Bible ... is not specifically intended for children. The 263 finely executed small plates, imaginatively and beautifully engraved .... are a pleasure to persue and the calligraphic German text explains briefly and clearly the Bible passages" (Bondy). - 2 small plates mounted together on firm laid paper (title leaf individual). - Size ca. 4,5 : 4,5-5 cm (size of images 3,5 : 3,4 cm). - Slightly soiled and stained, book block slightly broken, endpaper stamped. Binding rubbed, spine with small wormholes, upper spine end chipped, clasps removed.
