Überaus seltene erste Ausgabe, erschienen auf Löhneysens privater Presse auf seinem Gut Remlingen bei Wolfenbüttel. Mit eigenhändiger Signatur Löhneysens am Ende beider Widmungsvorreden.

Enthält das gesamte Pferdebuch von Löhneysen. Im zweiten Teil integriert ist der Abschnitt vom Zaumzeug, der bereits 1588 als Einzelwerk anonym erschien. - Löhneysens Werk ist nicht nur in hippologischer, sondern auch in sittengeschichtlicher Hinsicht von Interesse. Das Werk behandelt in 8 Teilen Adelserziehung, Hofleben, Turnier- und Ritterspiele, Beschreibungen und Abrichtung der Pferde, Gestüt, Wartung und Zäumung etc. Zudem werden behandelt die verschiedenen Räte (Geistlicher Rath, Land Rath, Peinlich Rath, Stadt Rath, Bergk Rath, KriegsRath) und verschiedene Ordnungen (für Apotheke, Markt, Wein, Bier, Bäcker, Metzger etc.). - Die großen Kupfer und Holzschnitte mit Turnierdarstellungen, Ritterspielen, Prozessionen, festlich gezäumten Pferden, Abrichten der Pferde, Pferdedarstellungen, Zäumen etc. Mit 5 Notenseiten am Ende. - Die Kollation ist schwer nachzuvollziehen, die Seiten 403-411 sind wie in Vergleichsexemplaren in der Kollation ausgelassen, die Pagination springt von S. 258 auf 359. Die Vergleichskollation bezieht sich auf das Exemplar in der Sammlung H. Sarsin (Auktion Moirandat Basel, 9.Okt.1999, Nr. 16), das als vollständig gilt.

Extremely rare first edition, published on Löhneysen's private press on his Remlingen estate near Wolfenbüttel. With Löhneysen's own signature at the end of both dedicatory prefaces. Contains the entire horse book by Löhneysen. The section on the bridle, which appeared anonymously as a single work 1588, is integrated into the second part. The collation is difficult to understand, pages 403-411 are missing from all comparison copies and the pagination jumps from page 258 to 359. Our comparison collation refers to the example in the H. Sarsin collection (auction Moirandat Basel, October 9, 1999 , No. 16), which is considered complete. With 1 title woodcut border, 75 (20 double-sheet and 33 sheet-sized) copperplates (of 104?) and 230 mostly full-page text woodcuts. Without title page to part I, without pages 399-402, 411-414 and 19 pages with coppers at the end (including the 20 sleigh coppers and register). - Browned and partly water-stained, in places with tears and creases at the edges (partly backed, stronger towards the end), a few coppers at the beginning with rubbing, 5 sheets with larger marginal tears (loss of text and image), 1 doublepage copper with long tear in the gutter, the doublepage coppers mostly cropped close, binding slightly loosened at the end. Covers scuffed and bumped, spine and edges partly with missing parts.
