The occupation with the nature and the aesthetics of light was at the heart of Adolf Luther's art. With his impressive glass-, mirror- and lens objects Luther entirely disengaged himself from any sort of depiction and made light the mere content of his works. The "Spährische Hohlspiegelwand" is one of Luther's classic light object, however, it is first and foremost characterized by its monumental dimensions which allow the observer to lose himself in the play of light. The mirror surfaces produce immaterial light phenomena and allow the observer in his role as an active recipient to experience ever new constellations of the light architecture. Owed to the usage of serial forms in combination with plain material, the artist created an artwork with a high level of elegance and airiness that releases the recipient from any constrictions of space and time, taking him to a world of dazzling images of light.
